eBay: Britain's 1971 Toy Soldiers Detailed

Pre-Release Figures Were Originally Intended for Use in a Never-Produced TV Series

In 2020, a man living in the West Midlands, England, was clearing his attic when he came across a box filled with toy soldiers he had owned as a young boy. The figures appeared to be Charlies Angels dolls whose bodies were replaced with military uniforms.

After posting the images to an unidentified online forum, other members suggested the dolls were a rare find from a line of action figures originally intended for a 1970s television series that was never produced. The man, who declined to reveal his name, auctioned the figures and they sold two days later for £253 (about $317) to an unidentified buyer.

Dolls from the Unproduced TV Series "The Six Million Dollar Man"

According to Action Figure Archive, the figures were part of a line of toys associated with an unproduced 1971 television series based on the "The Six Million Dollar Man" television series. Unlike the TV show, the toy line featured female characters, and each figure came with several accessories such as guns, helmets, and backpacks.

According to the website, the dolls were dressed in the uniforms of the six main branches of the U.S. Armed Forces as well as a special "Astro-Naught" figure dressed in a space suit. The figures sported a variety of skin tones and different colored hair. Each of the dolls also came with a backpack containing several accessories that were interchangeable between figures.

Action Figure Archive does not provide any information about why the TV series based on "The Six Million Dollar Man" was scrapped nor why production on the toy line was halted.
