Dallas Stars Lose Game 5 to Colorado Avalanche
Avalanche Tie Series 3-2, Game 7 on Friday
The Dallas Stars failed to close out the Colorado Avalanche in Game 5 on Wednesday, extending the series to Friday's Game 7. The Avalanche rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win 5-3 in overtime, forcing a decisive game in Denver.
Mikko Rantanen scored the game-winning goal at 11:03 of overtime, assisted by Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon. The Avalanche also got goals from Devon Toews, Valeri Nichushkin, and Artturi Lehkonen.
The Stars were led by Roope Hintz, who scored two goals, and Jason Robertson, who added one. However, the Avalanche's comeback spoiled a strong performance by Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger, who made 34 saves.
The series now shifts back to Denver for Game 7 on Friday night. The Avalanche will be looking to win their first Stanley Cup since 2001, while the Stars will be trying to prevent a repeat of their 2019 playoff disappointment.
